OVERVEIW

The advanced treatment course is designed to build on and expand knowledge and skills learnt during the AAMM Certificate of Musculoskeletal Medicine. Highly relevant for GPs, Sports and Exercise Medicine, Pain Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine physicians who work with musculoskeletal conditions on a regular basis. This intensive and comprehensive program will enable practitioners to work confidently and effectively with a variety of musculoskeletal pain management techniques to improve patient mobility and quality of life. Developed in consultation with senior musculoskeletal medicine practitioners who bring together years of clinical experience and knowledge to enable members to provide a high level of patient care and treatment.

WHO SHOULD DO THIS COURSE?

• Participants must have completed the below prerequisites:

• Hold a current AAMM Membership Completed the AAMM Certificate of Musculoskeletal Medicine (or equivalent, to be approved by Convenor)

COURSE STRUCTURE

The certificate comprises three modules that are useful in clinical practice individually, but collectively provide a comprehensive approach to musculoskeletal medicine. At the completion of the modules, an additional fourth assessment module can be completed to be eligible for the Advanced Treatment Certificate in Musculoskeletal Medicine. Modules are designed to be independent but also reinforcing of each other. They may be completed in any order, with the expectation that the entire certificate be completed within one to two years.

RECCOMMENDED SCHEDULE 2023

1. Apply for Membership with AAMM (If not already a Member with a current subscription)

2. Enrol in the Enrolment and Assessment Module ($1000 Registration fee to be paid up front, $1500 Examination fee to be paid following completion of ALL 3 Treatment Modules)

3. Register for Module 1: Spinal Manual Therapies and Exercises ($1400 to be paid at time of registration) - workshop to be attended in Brisbane on Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 October 2023

4. Commence Logbook of cases - after Module 1 workshop

5. Register for Treatment Module 2: Injection Therapies: Prolotherapy, Perineural Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy and Platelet Rich Plasma Injections ($2100 to be paid at time of registration) - workshop to be attended in Adelaide in June 2024 (Date TBC)

   (NOTE: Recognition of prior learning will be considered for those who have completed 4 one-day injection therapies workshops)

6. Register for Treatment Module 3: Pain and its management, spinal interventions and musculoskeletal medicine overview ($1400 to be paid at time of registration) - workshop to be attended in Brisbane in latter half of 2024 (Date TBC)

7. Complete payment for Assessment Fee ($1500), then complete and submit patient case history, logbook of cases (to be completed a minimum of 1-month prior to the MCQ/SAQ

8. Complete the MCQ/SAQ and viva voce examination (online)

NOTE: Clinical observation sessions will be scheduled at an agreed upon time that suits the tutor and participant. This will be completed BEFORE the viva voce examination is scheduled.

CPD

Applications for CPD hours will be the responsibility of the participants, however the AAMM  as a registered education provider will provide certificate of attendance and provide recommendations for the claiming of appropriate hours for the CPD categories of 'Educational Activities', Measuring Outcomes' and 'Reviewing Performance'. For modules 1, 2 and 3 the CPD hours will come from the 'Educational Activities'  and 'Reviewing Performance' categories. For the enrolment and assessment module, time spent on the log book will count as 'Measuring Outcomes'   and all other forms of assessment will count as 'Reviewing Performance'
